Malta Within Easy Reach
Although knowledge of the Maltese Islands is not extremely widespread throughout the world, the islands are within a few hours' traveling time from most mainland European cities.
Lying virtually at the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, the Maltese Islands stand around 93kms south of the Italian island of Sicily, and 288kms north of Africa. Malta is located 1,826kms to the east of Gibraltar and 1,940kms to the west of Tel Aviv.
Traveling to Malta
Air Travel: The Malta International Airport is located on the outskirts of Gudja to the south of the island of Malta. Access to Gozo and Comino can then be gained through Malta's ferry services to the sister islands.
Many international airlines operate routes to and from Malta, linking the islands to many international countries. Many daily flights are made to most main European capital cities. The national airline, Air Malta, also operates flights to and from all the major European cities, North Africa and the Middle East.
Sea Travel: A regular ferry and catamaran service links Italian and Sicilian ports to Valletta. Several shipping lines serve some Mediterranean ports as well, taking advantage of Malta's Maritime Terminal that boasts unique historical ambience and beauty.
